Funeral services for Carol A. "Besty" Simmons of Newcastle, WY were held Monday November 23, 2009 at 200 pm officiating. Burial followed at the greenwood cemetery under the direction of Worden funeral Directors of Newcastle. Visitation was from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, November 22nd at Worden Chapel.
Carol died at Rapid City Regional Hospital Wednesday November 18, 2009 after a short illness.
Carol Anne Snyder was born February 28, 1936 to Seymour E Snyder, Jr. & Anna Priscilla (Wing) Synder at Newcastle, WY.
In high school Carol was a part of FHA, Pep Club, Annual Staff & very active in 4H graduating in 1954. Carol moved to Mandan, ND with her family & attended BJC for one year. On October 23, 1956 she married Donald Simmons, to that union Lee Arnold & Dale Andrew were born. They lived at the Simmons Ranch by Clareton, WY.
Carol left the ranch & attended Vo-tech school in Watertown, SD. She then moved back to Newcastle, WY where she worked in food service at the hospital.
Carol was active in the Baptist Church and loved working with the children at bible school; she was a people person and enjoyed caring for animals.
Many people will remember Carol for her homemade bread & baked goods. Baking was one of her joys.
Survivors include her two sons, Lee & Dale Simmons of Newcastle, WY. Her sister, Nancy Cadwell of Edgemont, SD, her brother Stephen Keith (Jane) Snyder, Custer, SD. One granddaughter, Lakeisha Kay (Simmons) husband Dennis Diaz, of Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, NC. She is a lance corporal in the USMC. Her cousins Elisabeth (Richard) Rice, Havre, MT and Susan (Spence) Vannerman, Lincoln, NE. Carol is survived by many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many special friends who shared similar interests, fun times and meals together. The family would like to thank all who were there for Carol.
Preceding Carol in death were her two brothers Richard (Dick) and Rod & her parents Seymour& Anna Snyder, Curtis Cadwell, brother-in-law, Lucille bond, Aunt.
Memorial made to Cambria Community Church and Weston County Manor.
